Wines from Spain Tasting to show off rich variety of their wine.

With its vast wealth of wine styles and grape varieties, Spain really is one of the great wine regions of the world, with something for every wine lover. It is a stimulating mix of tradition and modernity – from innovative to classic, indigenous to international – and right now it is on a roll.

Spainish Wine Tasting Walkie Talkie

There’s more to Spanish wine than Rioja

Alongside the classic regions such as Rioja, Ribera del Duero and Priorat, a host of new wave regions such as Bierzo, Toro and Campo de Borja, as well as emerging regions like Andalucia, are attracting critical acclaim.

While Tempranillo and Garnacha might be the most famous Spanish grapes, if it’s white wine that floats your boat, you are now spoilt for choice. Galicia is home to vibrant, food-friendly Albariños and dynamic Godello, Rueda produces zesty Verdejos and Sauvignon while Catalunya is the home of Cava, the famous sparkling wine that never breaks the bank.

And, not to be forgotten, surely sherry from Jerez is one of the greatest-value and most underrated wines in the world – think bracing, tangy fino and manzanilla or richer, nuttier amontillado and oloroso.

The rise of Spanish gastronomy, architecture and arts has been mirrored by surging innovation in Spanish wine, often the result of a new generation of forward-thinking winemakers who are embracing a spirit of innovation and modernization.

In March 2019, we are delighted to be partnering with Wines from Spain for their spectacular tasting at Sky Garden, when guests will be able to see for themselves why the critics are currently wowed by the dynamism of the Spanish wine scene and meet some of these winemakers who are earning Spain its current reputation – see below.
