stevie-parle.jpgMore details have been announced about the new restaurant from Stevie Parle, the chef behind Dock Kitchen in Ladbroke Grove and presenter of Channel 4’s Spice Trip.

Opening in the spot formerly occupied by Kingsland Curries on Kingsland Road, Sardine will be a southern Italian restaurant with the likes of fish stew and sage-and-lemon lamb chops on the menu. The 100-cover restaurant will initially open for dinner only during the week, but also for lunch at weekends.

Sardine is backed by Rushmore Group’s Jonathan Downey, who is behind street-food organisation Street Feast as well as cocktail bars Milk & Honey, Danger of Death and Giant Robot. Ruth Spivey, who created the recent Wine Car Boot events, will be in charge of wine at the venture, while it is expected that Downey will be involved in the cocktails.

Sardine is due to open in March.
