SM Exclusive: Lobster Bar, Hackney

As we mentioned in last week’s SquareReel News video, a brand new clutch of crustaceans have been making their way to Lobster Bar in Hackey, which has launched today.

A joint venture from Cristine Leone (below left) and Christina Lahaniati (of modern tapas restaurants Ivy’s and Little Ivy’s), Lobster Bar uses sustainable seafood to provide a feast of lobster benedict, lobster spaghetti or just lobster for simpler tastes, slathered with melted butter.

Set within the restored brick facade of the striking Arthaus building, diners who just aren’t excited by the L word aren’t left out in the cold: there’s steak chimichurri with truffle fries, fishcakes and croquettes, as well as seafood platters for a group nibble. Other dishes on the menu include spicy crab croquettes, crispy seaweed puffs, and venus clams with tender stem broccoli and field tomatoes.

‘We both grew up eating seafood by the sea’ explains Lobster Bar’s director Cristine Leone (Cristine Leone is from Brazil, Christina is from Greece), ‘and we have a shared love of lobster. We are always in search of the best lobster dish and have been discussing opening our own restaurant with a seafood focus for two years. When the site became available on Richmond Road we knew straight away that it was the perfect spot for us to open the Lobster Bar - the ceilings are high, the room is filled with light and it’s a great location in Hackney.'
