From 12-18 October, Rum Experience Week will unleash seven days of tastings, masterclasses, parties, music and fine dining on the capital. Love cigars, chocolate and rum? Then the pairing events being planned will be right up your street; in fact, there’s something for every-rum.
Can’t decide? Here’s a pick of our favourite rum-soaked revelries:
• Alfred Lamb's Secret Store – a one-off tasting of Lamb’s limited edition Single Cast in one of Alfred Lamb’s secret stores under the Thames
• Rum Masters Dinner – the venue is yet to be revealed, but with snifters of the four rums being auctioned by Christie’s at RumFest promised, we’ll be barrelling along to this one
• Tiki on the Thames – tiki vibes, tiki tunes and tiki cocktails, on a boat. Yes please!
• The Rum Experience University – a four-day course for rum professionals and enthusiasts, with a diploma qualification at the end
• Boutique RumFest – the place to go in search of an agent, distributor, importer, wholesaler or buyer for your new rum or cachaça
Rum Experience Week will culminate in the ninth annual RumFest, taking place at the ILEC in Earls Court. Expect two days of samplings, talks, masterclasses and delicious cocktails – as well as the chance to taste rums worth over £100 per bottle.
