When: Open for soft launch with 50% off food from Monday 26 October until Friday 30 October, fully open Saturday 31 October
What: Roll up, roll up! This Vietnamese joint specialises in ultra-fresh holdable, foldable food. Pre-softened rice papers are available for customers to make their own version of this low-fat, low-carb South East Asian delicacy: stuff it with fresh Eastern herbs, grilled chicken or marinated basia fish, as well as the essential vermicelli rice noodles and thinly sliced vegetables.

What: Jermyn Street, with its bespoke shirt makers, cigar shops and upmarket grocers, is still imbued with an old-fashioned glamour that has seeped out of much of London, and the arrival of this 113-cover all-day restaurant can only serve to reinforce it. Quintessentially British, the menu features the Queen Mother’s favourite, Eggs Drumkilbo.

Meatliquor, Islington (below)

What: “Reliably crowded, dark and loud”, Meatliquor’s burger-led swagger has taken it far beyond niche – there’s a branch in Brighton and Meatmission in Hoxton are now joined by this north London dude food haven. The menu’s core appeal is in the purist butter-grilled Meatburger, mustardy double-decker Dead Hippie, house chilli dogs, extravagantly pimped sides and desserts such as peanut butter ice-cream sundae

Hoppers, Soho (below)
When: Wednesday 28 October
What: Inspired by the roadside shacks of Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka, the star attraction at this offering from the team behind Gymkhana (our reigning BMW Restaurant of the Year 2015) will be hoppers: thin, bowl-shaped pancakes made with fermented rice batter and coconut milk, served with meat, seafood or vegetables and dolloped with sambals and chutneys.

Darkhorse, Stratford

What: Part of the long-term plans for the 2012 Olympic village, this new restaurant and bar is the work of Ian Goodman, the former head bartender at the OXO Tower. Combining a 60-cover dining room with a cocktail and wine bar, the new venture is located in a ‘Legacy Neighbourhood’ and very close to Westfield Stratford.
