London restaurants opening this week: 19/10/15

If sitting inside playing Scrabble (because that’s what everyone does when they’re at home, right?) won’t quite cut the mustard this week, here’s what’s opening around town. We’ll be propping up the bar and gorging ourselves in all of them at various stages over the next few days.

See. You. There.

Mr Fogg's Tavern bar restaurant Covent Garden London

Mr Fogg’s Tavern, Covent Garden (above)

When: Monday 19 October
What: Mr Fogg’s second drinking haunt has arrived; if the first in Mayfair is anything to go by, the owners will have gone to town on their Jules Vernes theme, with knick-knacks and souvenirs from around the world and a real sense of Victorian frippery, with a really decent bar.
Where: 58 St Martin's Lane, WC2N 4EA

Sexy Fish restaurant London Mayfair

When: Monday 19 October
What: One of the most hotly anticipated openings this year, restaurant tycoon Richard Caring (of Caprice Holdings) is bringing his winning formula to Berkeley Square with this Asian-inspired fish and seafood venture. Head chef is the young Brit Ben Orpwood (previously of Zuma Istanbul and Dubai, as well as plenty of cheffing experience in Sydney) with dishes including Isle of Man Queenie scallops with ponzu and yuzu ‘snow’ (pictured).
Where: Berkeley Square House, W1J 6BR (pictured)

Les 110 Taillevent London restaurant Marylebone

When: Wednesday 21 October
What: There’s been much chatter about one of the biggest names on the Paris dining scene arriving in London. The menu is more brasserie-like and therefore more affordable but with similar French cuisine, and oenophiles should be thrilled that there are, as the name suggests, 110 wines available by the glass.
Where: 16 Cavendish Square, W1G 9DD

Beyond London bar Kensington London

Beyond London, Kensington (above)

When: Thursday 22 October
What: The smart Kensington address may be oh-so-London but chef Ian Pengelley (of Mango Tree and Harrods’ Chai Wu restaurants) and award-winning mixologist Andy Mil will take you far beyond the bounds of Chelsington with this restaurant and cocktail bar, where both food and drink come sprinkled with gold leaf.
Where: 1 Kensington High Street, W8 5NP
