Not long ago, the word Chelsea mostly brought to mind cringeworthy reality television. Recently however, the area has sprouted some seriously good restaurants and is reasserting itself as a London gastro-hub. Scroll on as we take a look at developments in the area and guide you to Chelsea’s best restaurants.
This week, we named Phil Howard’s Elystan Street (above) as our BMW Squaremeal Best New Restaurant for autumn 2016. After 25 years at world-beating The Square in Mayfair, Howard has proved that he’s just as talented as ever.
Elystan Street isn’t the only restaurant creating a buzz however, with Bibendum set to close in January and reopen in the spring with Claude Bosi at the helm. Meanwhile, Rasoi was reborn as Vineet Bhatia London (above) at the end of last month, which we just awarded three Squaremeal stars. We’re also hearing rumours that Thierry Laborde, previously head chef at Chabrot Bistrot d'Amis in Knightsbridge, has just bought the former Elistano site on Elystan Street, meaning Howard could soon be getting a new neighbour.
