Native is a British seafood restaurant in Sheffield serving lunch and dinner, centred on the finest seasonal catch from the UK’s shores. With an emphasis on sustainability and freshness, the menu is guided by what is at its best each week, showcasing fish and shellfish sourced from British waters.
The dining room brings a relaxed feel, combining exposed brick walls, filament bulb lighting and wooden tables with booth seating and eclectic artwork. Guests can enjoy a vibrant setting suited to everything from date nights to birthday celebrations and intimate family dining.
The kitchen is led by chef-owner Christian Szuurko, a Sheffield native who trained and worked in London before taking over in 2005, bringing experience and a strong sense of regional pride to the restaurant. Alongside its core dishes, a weekly specials menu highlights changing catches and creative additions. Recent plates have included crab crumpet with kohlrabi, samphire and chilli oil and roast monkfish served with prawn and lobster risotto and matchstick fries.
The regular menu features starters such as oysters, grilled tiger prawns and roast octopus, while mains range from native lobster with Caesar salad and house fries to classic fish and chips and the J.H. Mann fish pie, a rich combination of salmon, cod and haddock topped with creamy mashed potato. A fruits de mer platter offers lobster, dressed crab, prawns, mussels and oysters for sharing, with sides including crispy potato terrine and charred hispi cabbage.
The wine list spans curated white, orange, rose and red wines selected to pair well with seafood. Draft beers, soft drinks and juices are also available. Cocktails include classics such as Martinis and Margaritas, alongside house signatures like the Rhubarb and Custard, Black Forest Martini and an Italian Old Fashioned.
