Centred around the Turkish tradition of sharing, Meyze in Redland, Bristol offers a menu inspired by the flavours of Turkey, where Mediterranean freshness meets Eastern spices and herbs. The concept comes from founder Ece Seval, who grew up with meze at the heart of every table, shaping the restaurant’s focus on sociable, flavour-led dining built around connection and conversation.
Inside, the space feels light, bright and airy, with floor-to-ceiling windows along one side letting in plenty of natural daylight. Exposed brick walls add character, while large plants and pops of greenery soften the look and bring a sense of warmth to the room. Leather chairs and simple wooden tables keep the setting comfortable and understated, creating a relaxed atmosphere suited to everything from casual brunches to more intimate evening meals.
The menu runs from brunch through to dinner, with plenty of vegetarian and vegan-friendly options throughout. Brunch includes dishes such as Turkish eggs with garlic yoghurt and chilli butter and menemen, a slow-cooked egg dish with green pepper and tomato, alongside baked goods like borek filled with cheese, spinach or potato, and simit, a sesame-coated Turkish bagel. Smaller sides dishes such as honey and kaymak, Turkish jam and olives can be added to the table, alongside teas and coffee.
In the evening, the focus shifts to a broader selection of hot and cold meze, encouraging diners to order a variety of dishes to share across the table. Cold plates include spicy ezme, hummus, olive tapenade, bean salad and roasted or smoked aubergine with labneh, red oil and walnuts. Hot dishes include mushroom casserole, vegan lahmacun and seafood plates such as whitebait, calamari and mussels.
Desserts include warm spiced poached pear or affogato. While the drinks offering features a concise wine list, alongside beers and soft drinks.
