Any Mamma Mia! fan will have heard of Mamma Mia! The Party - the theatrical, immersive experience set within London's The 02. Here, the film and Abba's brilliant soundtrack comes to life, with singing, dancing, drinking and dining, to make you feel like you've stepped through the screen, and right onto an idyllic Grecian island.
While you'll no doubt be excited to see the show, don't overlook the food offering. While Mamma Mia! The Party isn't your typical restaurant, Debbie the chef has put lots of love and energy into creating an authentic, Grecian menu that'll introduce you to some of the country's best-loved dishes, served with enthusiasm and heart. As Debbie says, Greek dining is all about sharing and enjoying dishes family-style, so be prepared to pass plates around and get your fingers dirty.
To kick things off, your table will be laden with small plates that are perfect for nibbling on. Start with an iconic Greek salad, filled with fresh heritage tomatoes, cucumber, feta cheese and onions, drizzled with olive oil and garnished with torn basil leaves. There's also spanakopita - a layered filo pastry filled with feta and spinach.
For mains, dishes get a little heavier so get ready to tuck into braised lamb stifado and slow-cooked beef, served with garlic roasted baby potatoes, vegetable briam and red wine jus, for the whole table. Or, for vegetarian and vegan guests, there's potato and aubergine moussaka.
It wouldn't be a full Greek meal without something sugary at the end. Get your fingers sticky with a dessert selection featuring poikilia glyko, orange ravani cake, Greek yoghurt with cherry compote, lemon ouzo curd and cream filled kokakia, and baklava, enjoyed with tea and coffee. Finally, if there's still room for more, indulge in the option to add on a cheese board. Served with buttermilk, charcoal and wheat crackers, with helpings of fig and honey chutney and a Damson plum jelly, three carefully chosen cheeses offer a mixture of nutty, creamy and tangy tones.
