Le Bistrot could not be more central, right on the corner of the Royal Mile, in an historic building also accommodating Edinburgh's French Institute. There's a wide and varied menu at reasonable prices, and all dishes are beautifully presented and prepared. Lots of wine options, and friendly, welcoming staff. Perfect.

Disappointing food - soggy quiche. Beetroot salad very unimaginative. Ver nice service. No option but the lunch menu. Out last visit when we had more lunch options was a much more pleasant experience. I wouldn't go back here again.

Have not been for a few months and were frequent customers up to then. 2 complaints when compared with the past. Very large and first class offering of cakes etc has disappeared  A big negative point! In addition some of the helpings have shrunk in quantity. Cold meat board as a starter is now half the size it was! Will have to think hard before returning which is a great pity

Fantastic and authentic cuisine at Le Bistrot!  The flavours and textures of the food was superb and had a very difficult choice on what to choose as everything sounded wonderful and given the flavours nothing disappointed.  The ambiance and the service was fantastic and I feel a little hidden gem that I am glad had not been discovered by too many people.  I would definitely recommend and will return again next time I am in Edinburgh.

Our starters were superb but the French Sheperd's pie (Hachis Parmentier) was far too dry. The service was very poor, we were never asked if we would like a desert. It was a Monday so the restaurant wasn't over busy. Lovely setting and good atmosphere. I would try again as maybe we just caught them on a bad day.
