Tucked away with the Pelham Hotel, La Trattoria is an all-day Italian restaurant, primely placed in the heart of South Kensington. Headed up by head chef Roberto Roncolato, La Trattoria offers traditional Italian recipes reimagined with a modern twist. Inside, La Trattoria brings eye-catching decor, from the art deco paintings that line the pin-striped walls. Sink into the brown leather seats and enjoy a light-filled space that’s ideal for everything from a relaxed work lunch, to a celebratory dinner.
When it comes to the menus, guests are welcomed for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with morning menus featuring a buffet packed full of pasties, breads, and yoghurts, with signature plates including crushed avocado on toast with poached eggs and chilli flakes or eggs royale with smoked salmon and hollandaise.
The main trattoria menu features a mixture of antipasti, pizza, pasta and larger mains, each perfect for either sharing between friends, or working through yourself. Pizzas are Roman-style, including classic Margheritas, Calabrese, and Tre Fromaggi, which combines gorgonzola, mozzarella and Parmigiano Reggiano. Antipasti, meanwhile, include beef carpaccio with Parmesan and aged balsamic vinegar, burrata with fresh and sundried tomatoes, anchovies and basil dressing, and pan-fried tiger prawns with chilli, garlic and bisque.
From the primi section, you might find the likes of minestrone soup, pappardelle with Cornish clams, mussels and Mediterranean prawns, fresh ravioli with butter and sage, or rigatoni alla carbonara. Secondi offers more substantial options, including a classic polenta with sausages, slow-cooked beef stew and gorgonzola, slow-cooked British Angus beef cheek with mash and red wine reduction, or pan-fried sea bream with fine beans, capers, and lemon sauce.
Classic Italian desserts include tiramisu and a selection of seasonal cakes, while the wine list covers both Italy and the rest of Europe, as well as including some top-drawer Champagnes.
