Khao-So-i brings the heat and soul of Northern Thailand to Fitzrovia, marking the first international opening for the cult Chiang Mai noodle bar. Founded by Win Srinavakool and Por Haruethai Noicharoen, the original 25-cover spot gained a devoted following for its deep, richly spiced Khao Soi — the namesake coconut curry noodle soup that has since become a benchmark dish.
Now open on Market Place, the London site builds on the success of a sold-out pop-up in 2024, where queues stretched around the block. Here, the brand’s original mission remains intact: to serve the best possible version of Khao Soi, made with house-pressed coconut milk, fresh egg noodles and a blend of 32 Thai spices. The broth simmers for hours. The chicken is fall-apart tender. The pickles and crispy noodles on top cut through with sharpness and crunch.
Inside, the atmosphere is lively but not loud. Design nods to the brand’s Chiang Mai roots are subtle rather than staged, with warm timber, tiled walls and a long open kitchen that keeps the room anchored. The dining room seats around 40, with counter stools and tightly spaced tables that suit the pace and purpose of the menu.
The food moves beyond soup. Glub Glam, a section of small sharing plates, includes spicy minced pork larb kua, grilled sai ua sausage from a family recipe, and tam khanun, a punchy jackfruit salad that carries both smoke and spice. Portions are compact, flavours are big, and the whole experience is tuned for a quick meal that lingers in the memory.
Drinks are focused and informal. Thai beer is poured cold, while a short list of wines is selected to hold up against heat and acidity. There is also coconut water, fresh juices and a few rotating house drinks that lean herbal and sharp.
Khao-So-i does not overcomplicate. It delivers food with clarity and confidence, from a team that knows exactly what it wants to serve. In a part of town full of new ideas, it brings something timeless: a proper bowl of soup and the generosity that comes with it.
