Josephine Marylebone is a follow up to the much-loved Josephine Bouchon in Chelsea - a bouchon-cum-bistro from Michelin-starred chef Claude Bosi, which celebrates the food of his hometown, Lyon. Situated in the heart of Marylebone, this quaint restaurant is co-founded by Claude and Lucy Bosi, and takes more inspiration from Paris compared to the Lyon-centric original site in Chelsea.
Claude Bosi is arguably one of London's most renowned, successful chefs, and after he turned Josephine into one of 2024's biggest success stories, it's no surprise that a second location opened in 2025. Born in the gastronomic heart of France, Lyon, Bosi continues to return to his roots at Josephine with an ingredient-based approach. On their own, the mains look delicious and include beef fillet, chicken with morels, and a chicken Cordon Bleu layered with crispy golden breadcrumbs. Mains are complemented by a wide range of potato dishes, such as silky pomme puree, crispy frites, or gratin dauphinois.
Josephine also offers a variety of starters that include fresh oysters, escargots with garlic, and langoustines. For dessert, Bosi has reinvented a classic banana split and made it a signature of the resturant, although a cheese board is available for those who prefer something savoury after their meal. If you can’t make lunch or dinner, try their delicious breakfast menu full of cafe-inspired options.
Describing it as ‘a space that exudes warmth and conviviality’, the founders wanted Josephine to be as romantic and timeless as the Parisian bistros, brasseries, and bouillons they visited. Through a decor that included rich wood panelling, antique mirrors, and a soft, ambient lighting, they managed to create an intimate setting full of lively spirit. Only adding to this sweet and lovely setting is the team’s display of breakfast baskets which exhibit freshly baked baguettes and pastries, artisanal jams, and colourful charcuterie.
