It's not going to come as much of a surprise that Italio is an Italian restaurant, located on Highfield Road in Blackpool. The team have pulled together over 30 years of experience in working in the Italian cuisine industry, and used their roots deep in the Sicilian region of Palermo, to bring you a modern dining experience that is traditionally rustic with a chic setting. The team at Italio source all their ingredients and produce from the finest suppliers in Italy and Britain, to give you a glimpse of what real Italian food is.
Begin with a delicious garlic bread diavola with fresh chilli, red onion and shredded basil, before a selection of starters delight the table. There's a family pate recipe of rich and smooth chicken liver with a marsala onion chutney, fresh baked mushrooms stuffed with our traditional breadcrumb filling and oven baked with a tomato and bechamel sauce, and mussels served with white wine, garlic and parsley.
All pasta dishes come with a choice of spaghetti or penne, and the long list begins with the napoli, a signature slow cooked tomato and basil sauce that's light and simple. The arrabbiata includes spicy salami, nduja, ham, fresh chilli and a touch of basil in a piquant tomato sauce, a delicious carbonara with pancetta, free range egg yolk and cream, and the traditional beef lasagne with ragu and pasta layered over the house special bechamel sauce.
There are three options for risotto, including a chicken and vegetable flavour, mixed seafood and mushrooms with garlic and fresh sage. All of Italio's pizzas are 12 inch, made using the traditional wood burning oven, and you'll find all the classic pizza toppings on the menu, along with two Italio speciality calzones. Other main dishes include the slow roast lamb shank, Italio stroganoff, dirty burger and sea bass fillet.
