This Bib Gourmand awarded restaurant is a testament to the team’s commitment to seasonality and local produce, reflecting the essence of the award: a friendly establishment that serves good food at moderate prices. The venue includes a full dining room, a dog friendly pub, a beautiful garden with a children’s play area, and bespoke private dining rooms. Be sure to enjoy al fresco dining on the outdoor terrace during the warmer months. Whether you’re looking for somewhere to enjoy a date night, a delicious Sunday roast, or a celebration with the whole family, the Galvin Green Man is the place to be.

You’ll be incredibly pleased with starters like cappuccino of wild mushroom with poppy seed brioche, salt baked beetroot with quinoa, whipped goat's curd, and roasted hazelnuts, or the scotch egg with apple and fennel salad, parsley emulsion, and truffle crumb. Enjoy main dishes that include a pan seared wild sea bass with braised fennel, baby Lou potatoes, orange and saffron velouté, or the Great Waltham pheasant with puy lentils, celeriac purée, and smoked bacon jus. Finish off your meal with decadent desserts like vanilla creme brulee with pineapple and alphonso mango sorbet, or tonka and bourbon vanilla rice pudding with caramelised apples and dulce de leche.

On Sundays, start off with the whipped cod roe tartlet topped with herb crème fraîche and compressed cucumber, followed by the roast sirloin of Herefordshire beef with duck fat potatoes, chantenay carrots, savoy cabbage and a fluffy Yorkshire pudding.

Fantastic Saturday Lunch
We were wanting to meet our friends and their 18 month old son somewhere nice for lunch and we really couldn't have chosen a better place. The Galvin Green Man really does cater for everyone and are also pet friendly. Their food menus are also amazing value for money especially the Bib Gourmand & Children's. You will find this place in the quiet setting of Great Waltham along a nice country lane. As you arrive your first impression is amazing as the entrance has an extensive glass front which allows you to see straight into the bar / reception area. As you enter you see that to the right of the bar is the pub and to the left is the very large and modern restaurant with fabulous views firstly of the huge garden plus children's play area and then the local countryside. Upstairs they also have four function rooms. You can also see that in the summer that they must host quite a few events as they have an outside bar & BBQ area. On our arrival we were given a really friendly welcome and although we arrived right on our table time we was told not to rush so therefore enjoyed a quick drink and little chat first. We were then taken to our table and given the two menus one being the Al a Carte and the other was the Bib Gourmand menu which as I said at the beginning is amazing value for money ie 3 courses for £17.50. They also have a great menu for the children to which our friends son enjoyed a bowl of mac n cheese well who wouldn't and a chocolate mousse dessert these can be brought out at anytime. On the back of the menu is the wine list and was glad to see an English wine on the list from Davenport Vineyards which we ordered and was a delight. Well I suppose it's time to move onto the food to which two of us ended up having the Bib Gourmand menu. After enjoying some fabulous homemade bread & butter we moved onto our starters. We had the Terrine of Ham Hock & Chicken with a Plum Chutney , a Veloute of White Onion with Parmesan Croutons & the Scotch Egg with Mustard & Pickled Onions After enjoying the fabulous starters it was now time for the main courses and these were also very delicious and a nice healthy size portion as well. We chose the Dingley Dell Pork Belly with Mustard , Pomme Purée & Apricot Jus , the Salmon Fishcake with a Poached Egg & Parsley Mayonaisse , the Beef with Mushrooms & Bone Marrow Jus (sorry no pic) & the market fish of the day which was Stone Bass with Lentils & Chorizo It was then time for a nice rest before moving to desserts this allowed time for our friends to take their son out to the play area. On their return we ordered desserts a Salted Caramel Tart with Pear Sorbet , a Carrot & Almond Sponge with Stem Ginger & Mandarin Sorbet , the Chocolate Fondant with Pistachio Ice Cream and for the guest of honour a Chocolate Mousse and Orange. All the desserts were heaven and a great way to finish So after finishing with a coffee this brought to an end to a truly fabulous afternoon where the food was excellent and the service from every member of staff was very friendly making you feel very welcome. I would highly recommend a visit to this place whether your a couple or a large group because as I said at the start they cater for everyone. I for one am so glad we came here and already looking forward to making a return visit soon.?

Lovely Saturday Luncheon
This was our first time at this particuar Galvin establishment and it didn't disappoint. The decor is modern and clean, but not cold and clinical and the real log fires in the middle of the room were lovely touch on a wet wintery day. The staff were friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived and really helpful with a sound knowledge of the menu giving advice where necessary. Whilst we didn't opt for it, the set menu is really good value for money with, I think, enough options to suit most people. I would most certainly recommend and will definitely return in the future.
