Despite the no-frills decor and "pantomime" surly service, we simply can't get enough of the authentic Cantonese cooking on offer at this Queensway veteran. The roast duck here is an internationally renowned work of art – it's dried, marinated and then fired at terrific heat to a gold crispy brown, with succulent flesh and pancakes on the side. In addition, you can sample a huge range of traditional soups, spring rolls, soft-shell crab, rich peasant hotpots and chicken, pork and prawns cooked a hundred ways. If you want to push the boat out, order luxurious dishes of lobster, turbot and Dover sole, perhaps with noodles. The simple dining room is always packed with locals, tourists and groups of canny Chinese slurping their way to contented satisfaction. There are takeaways too, but we wouldn't advise that option for the roast duck – best eaten straight from the oven.

Horrible staff and steel scourer in my food!

Yesterday I ordered dim sums at the Four Seasons and to my horror I found parts of a Galvanised Steel Pan Scourer in my dim sum. It cut my gums and the roof of my mouth and I started bleeding. I told and showed the staff the parts of the scourer in the dim sum, who then said they would order me another serving. I said I didn't want to eat anymore and asked for the bill as I just wanted to get out of there. I then felt nauseous thinking about where the cleaning scourer may had been prior to being added to my dim sum and later I vomited. The experience became even more unpleasant when the male staff member wanted me to pay for my meal. I was in pain and felt sick so I paid the bill in order to get out of there and get some medical care. If this was my restaurant I would have been so apologetic to the customer and not charged them for their meal. The bill I paid was only £20 however on principal, it was not the right way to treat a customer after your establishment has caused them physical harm. This morning my mouth is swollen and sore where the steel scourer has cut me. Mistakes do happen and no one is perfect, however based on the way the staff dealt with this matter, I won't be returning to this restaurant and encourage everyone to choose another Chinese restaurant in Queensway to avoid a horrible experience such as this.
