Hercule Poirot is about all that’s missing from this emphatically patriotic temple to all things Belgian, with its flags fluttering outside, Tintin posters and peculiar monastic-style seating. Beer fans will be in nirvana here – nigh on 100 wheat brews, fruity numbers and obscure Trappist ales are available by the bottle, with beguiling names such as Judas, Piraat Amber and Satan Gold. If you don’t know where to start, enrol for a tasting course conducted by a specialist sommelier; there are also regular events showcasing artisan beers from around the globe. Drinkers requiring some solid ballast to keep them on an even keel should look to the menu for moules-frites, steak baguettes, fish and chips, wild-boar carbonnade with mustard toast, waffles and the like.
