Cote Brasserie Harrogate is a restaurant group that has some unmistakeable life, which is probably why you’d be hard pressed not to find one near you wherever you are in the country. This particular location sits right next to both Harrogate station as well as the blossom-lined park The Stray; positioned nicely near a shopping centre, cinema and gym, this is the perfect spot to come with friends or family for a comforting meal on a day out - or even as a hideout from your escape of the gym. The restaurant has a polished glass exterior that sits behind outside tables giving way to a stylish brasserie-style interior with dark tables and chairs, light cream coloured walls and plenty of attractive lamps and lights with marble tables dotted around.
The all-day menu is broad and full of tempting options. For breakfast, you can choose from some classic breakfast dishes like eggs any style, French toast and croque monsieurs as well as lighter options like granola bowl and croissants. The main menu offers classic French brasserie style dishes like French onion soup, moules frites and boeuf bourguignon as well as some more unique dishes like roasted sea bass with braised fennel and Champagne beurre blanc and lamb loin chops with a roquefort butter, all of which can be matched up with a healthy selection of sides. If that wasn’t enough, to finish you can end with things such as chocolate fondant or tartes aux pommes.
To go with the food you can select from a drinks list that is broad and well priced with wines, spirits, beers and softs available. Perhaps where Cote Brasserie is best is in the inclusivity of the various menus with dedicated menus for vegans, vegetarians and those who require a gluten free menu as well as a children’s menu and an affordable prix fixe menu making this a great spot to come to with friends and family when you want something that’s not too complicated but still very nice.

Tha restaurant was empty apart from one other person when we arrived. The waitress was very pleasant inviting us to sit where we liked. We both chose French onion soup and a rump steak, one medium and the other medium rare. The soup was tasty but could have been warmer. The steaks were served wrong way round so we had to swap after cutting and tasting them. They were just okay in terms of flavour but were tender enough and again could have been warmer. Sadly the restaurant didn't have any French or Dijon mustard, just English, which my partner didn't want. We sent a glass of Malbec back as it tasted vinegary; a replacement glass of Merlot was fine. For dessert we shared a crème caramel, which was delicious. A coffee for me was also fine. Overall we thought the meal was expensive for what we paid (£98 for two, including 10% service charge) and we would not be in a rush to go back. Maybe the offers during the week will be better value.
