Billed as a ‘sexier, more glamorous take on the traditional British restaurant’, Churchill’s has emerged from a huge renovation project with an innovative new look and a menu that focuses on artisan produce, cheeses and home-baked breads. Fly the flag with poached smoked haddock and Welsh rarebit, slow-roast pork belly with braised apples or beer-battered pollock and chips, or try something a bit more eclectic – perhaps grilled octopus with turnip greens and spicy tomato coulis or lemon-marinated chicken with butternut squash purée. Charcuterie boards, sandwiches, pastas and steaks ring the changes, while dessert might bring bread-and-butter pudding or hot apple tart. Breakfast is a useful warm-up – especially if you’re planning a trip to nearby Tower Bridge. The venue also includes a stunning lounge bar for casual drinks and snacks.
