Carluccio's Waterloo

If people-watching is your pass time of choice, Carluccio’s Waterloo is the perfect restaurant for you. Located on the upper concourse of Waterloo Railway station, you can see almost all of the comings and goings of one of London’s busiest transport hubs.

People-watching aside, this restaurant serves up a host of authentic Italian dishes to be enjoyed before or after you catch your train. On the menu, you’ll find seasonal delights such as the orecchiette verde – artichoke sauce with courgette and spring onion and the wild boar tortelloni in a beef broth. For those who don’t like to venture outside of their comfort zone, the spaghetti carbonara, or chicken Milanese may be more your speed.
After you’ve indulged in your mains, the dessert menu is a natural next step, so don’t forget to have a look at what is on offer. You can choose between Italian desserts such as the tiramisu or torta di cioccolata, or if you prefer your old-school British desserts, try the chocolate bread and butter pudding with vanilla ice cream.

As well as an enticing main menu, you can find a number of menus tailored to fit many dietary requirements. On the vegan menu you’ll find focaccia, minestrone primavera and polpette di fagioli – vegan bean balls with a chickpea puree and a selection of vegetables. There is also a vegetarian, gluten free-and nut-free menu.

Priding itself on quality authentic Italian food, you won’t find all your stereotypical dishes on this menu, but instead regional dishes that were tested and approved by the late celebrity chef Antonio Carluccio. Using the motto MOF MOF (minimum of fuss, maximum of flavour) you can guarantee fresh and exciting dishes. Just don’t get too caught up in them and miss your train.
