Cafe Beam in Highbury is a family run brunch spot, with plenty of delicious dishes on the menu to choose from and a range of veggie and vegan options. The cafe is open daily, offering a relaxed environment where you can pop in for an early start breakfast or head in for a late lunch. Chic and stylish interiors set this one apart from other cafes like it, with banquet seating, and cosy nooks where you can hide away and enjoy your food.
First up on the breakfast menu is the Beam benedict with shawarma spiced patty, homemade pickled red cabbage, crispy eggs, a muffin and harissa hollandaise, followed by the two eggs shakshuka cooked in a fiery tomato sauce with peppers, spices and cheese. The full English breakfast is a classic, with fried eggs, Warman Farm pork sausages, Norfolk smoked bacon, Portobello mushroom, hash brown and beans with buttered multigrain toast. We'd find it hard to resist the beetroot benedict with crispy eggs, goats cheese, crushed beetroot and candied walnuts, or the gluten free buttermilk pancakes served with a berry compote, bacon, salted caramel, maple syrup and honeycomb butter. Scrumptious!
At lunchtime, enjoy the grilled chicken salad with marinated chicken pieces, crushed avocado, tomato, croutons, and herby bulgar wheat with a honey and mustard dressing, or the halloumi wrap with hummus, slaw, tomato salsa, homemade pickled red cabbage, yoghurt drizzle and chips. Don't skip dessert, not with the artisan brioche French toast stuffed full of Nutella with caramelised banana, salted caramel and berry compote. Wash it all down with a healthy pineapple, carrot and goji berry smoothie, or a sweet Bellini if it's the weekend. The hot chocolate is something special, made with a mixture of chocolate milk and fresh dairy milk, steamed together to make a hot chocolate fit for a chocoholic.
