Barletta Margate is a Mediterranean inspired restaurant enjoying a prime position opposite Margate beach and Margate Main Sands. Previously a pop-up restaurant, Barletta has taken home in two locations - the Turner Contemporary Gallery, and their rooftop location of Marine Terrace which is open during the warmer months. The restaurant menu is inspired by the owners and their travels around Sicily, as well as their travels to LA, Berlin and Marselle. Their food and cocktails are designed to celebrate the seasons.
If you’re visiting Barletta for dinner, perhaps you will kick things off with the confit cod cheek served with sweetcorn, brown butter and chive, or the delicious sounding slow roasted squash served with pine nut and mint sauce. Main dishes are also seasonal however may include the salt baked celeriac served with caramelised cauliflower, pumpkin seeds and wonky parsnip, and the slow braised lamb shoulder ragu served with cavatelli and parmesan.
When it comes to desserts perhaps you’ll go for the heritage apple tarte tatin served with caramel and creme fraiche, or the brown butter madeleines served with roasted plums and an almond cream. If you’re looking for cheeses you can also order a cheese plate which features a selection of fine British cheeses, lavash crackers and baguette.
During the warmer months you can visit Barletta on the roof which serves a smaller menu of dishes including many vegetarian options such as slow roasted peppers, chickpeas and pesto, and a spiced carrot dish served with parsley and yoghurt.
