About

Bali Brasserie is an Indonesian and Malaysian restaurant on Hove seafront, known for its menu rooted in traditional Southeast Asian cooking. Just minutes from central Brighton, it remains a popular choice for both casual dining and special occasions.

Inside, the space blends modern and traditional elements. Neutral walls are paired with bamboo details, rattan lighting and large mirrors, while a mural adds a focal point. A 45-foot sweeping bar, designed in an S-shape and decorated in Balinese style, runs through the restaurant, creating a central hub for drinks and more informal dining. Pink neon strip lighting around the ceiling adds a contemporary edge.

The menu brings together Indonesian and Malaysian flavours, built around aromatic ingredients such as lime leaves, lemongrass and coconut milk. Starters include fish satay, prawn and sweetcorn fritters and samosas, followed by a wide selection of mains ranging from chicken, beef and prawn dishes to vegetarian and vegan options. House favourites include nasi goreng and rendang, alongside curries, stir-fries and grilled dishes.

Set menus offer a structured way to explore the menu, beginning with soup of the day and prawn crackers, followed by satay ayam with gado-gado, before moving on to a hot buffet of dishes such as beef in oyster sauce, king prawns in a lightly spiced tomato and coconut sauce, chickpea curry, stir-fried noodles and rice. A la carte dining and bar snacks are also available.

Desserts include Orangina, a whole orange filled with sorbet, or bananas flambeed with cinnamon and coconut ice cream. Drinks include wines, beers, spirits and themed cocktails, with a well-stocked bar offering a relaxed setting for after-work drinks. Live music, karaoke, a dance floor and pool table add to the lively atmosphere.

We had a lovely evening at Bali Brasserie. A quirky and unusual place. The staff were very friendly and helpful and service was spot on. The food was delicious and very good value. We had a la carte but will be returning to try the weekend lunch buffet. I can highly recommend giving this lovely restaurant a try
