The Drawing Room is atmospheric: warm amber lighting washes over polished wood panelling, plush velvet seating and stylish patterned textiles throughout. Sculptural pendant lights hang across the ceiling like illuminated flowers, and at one side is a glowing marble-topped bar ringed by barstools. To the left of it sits a row of window seats, offering lovely, intimate areas for date night couples. By night, the space has an almost speakeasy quality to it, but during the day it feels more like a grand private drawing room than a traditional hotel bar with all-day dining.
Until 11am, The Drawing Room is reserved for hotel guests, but after that, all are welcome for quality coffee, lunch, dinner and drinks. The kitchen borrows influences from across Europe and beyond, using luxury ingredients and British produce in ways that feel familiar and approachable rather than formal. The Drawing Room menu kicks off with small plates like Colchester oysters with elderflower vinegar mignonette, Warrendale wagyu beef sliders, and chilled Isle of Wight tomato gazpacho with strawberry and black olive tuille.
A selection of salads range from Caesar with cos lettuce, Nicoise with seared tuna, and Isle of Wight tomatoes with London burrata, pickles, and balsamic. There’s also a selection of sandwiches, all served with fries and green salad, alongside classics like chicken schnitzel, spaghetti with courgette and lemon, and Dover sole. Drinks range from signature Martinis (including a Mead Martini and an oyster and samphire Gibson) to creations like a Shortbread Old Fashioned, Spicy Marmalade Margarita, with classic cocktails available too.
