Located in Enniskillen in Northern Ireland, 28 at the Hollow comes from husband-wife team Glen Wheeler and Zara McCugh. Their journey began back in 2018 with 28 Darling Street, which opened to great acclaim and received several awards. In 2021, they decided to move the site to Enniskillen, where it stands today, reopening in the iconic Blakes of the Hollow building.
A spot for all occasions, you’ll find plush leather seating and dark-wooden tables, with intricate sconces that line the exposed-stone brick walls. Its calling card, however, is the unique vaulted ceilings, sure to add a dramatic flair to your evening. Whether you’re heading out for a special celebration, or just fancy a relaxing spot for dinner and some drinks, here, you’ll find a cosy space with a convivial atmosphere.
Diners can expect a selection of set menus, showcasing high-quality local ingredients across the dishes, all for rather affordable prices. If you pop in for lunch you can expect the likes of celeriac and chestnut soup with sourdough, or goats cheese and salt baked beetroot to start, with confit duck leg and savoy cabbage or slow cooked beef cheek to follow.
On the dinner menu, you’ll find a few more options, as well as an a la carte, if you’re looking to pick and choose. Options might include seafood ravioli in a lobster sauce, ham hock with crispy egg and pickles, or wild atlantic cod with pearl barley and smoked aubergine puree. Finish your evening with a selection of indulgent desserts, featuring the likes of peanut parfait with cherry gel and a biscuit crumb, or a decadent chocolate tart topped with popcorn and a raspberry sorbet.
