SquareMeal Review of
Trengilly Wartha Inn
Ask for directions and programme your SatNav before embarking on a trip to the Trengilly Wartha Inn, which nestles in the wooded valley of Polpenwith Creek surrounded by six acres of verdant
gardens and meadows. Originally an 18th-century farm dwelling, it’s now a thriving country inn-cum-restaurant with two bars stocking a prodigious assortment of drinks including a splendid selection
of more than 40 malt whiskies (many from distilleries that have now closed). In addition, the place is famed for its regionally brewed real ales, ciders and huge selection of carefully chosen
global wines. The kitchen takes local sourcing seriously for a seasonal bistro menu that might yield the likes of smoked whiting with herb butter, braised lamb shank with creamy mash or baked pork
fillet with prune apple and brandy sauce. Ploughman’s and simpler dishes are served in the bar.
