The Rose Public House
A street-corner boozer recently given a new lease of life and some 21st-century attributes, The Rose is renowned for its it belly-filling grub, off-the-wall drinks and quirky interiors (including a
floor made from pennies). If you’re here to eat, expect a short, daily ‘bill of fare’ promising the likes of venison sausages with mash, steak and ale pie, pork loin with red cabbage and other
pub-grub standards, alongside pork pies, ploughman’s and apple tart. If drinking is on your mind, check out the OWL ale brewed exclusively for the pub, craft beers from Red Squirrel and a host of
artisan bottles ranging from Compass Symposium wheat beer (produced in Oxfordshire) to Blue Monkey Guerrilla Stout from Nottingham. There are barrel-aged vintage cocktails and ‘traditional
temperance tonics’ too, plus a nifty list of French regional wines alongside a few eccentric English sparklers.
