Prolific pub chain Antic, whose portfolio includes Catford Constitutional Club and John The Unicorn, has set up shop at this one-time wireless store in bustling Lewisham Market. The mid-1950s – an era when Tommy Steele and Alma Cogan were the BBC’s Pick of the Pops – is recreated by grungey decor, jumble-sale tat in old display cabinets, a trompe l’oeil ‘glass’ art deco ceiling, a museum-piece radiogram as a table, and sundry old tranny radios. On tap at the spruce bar, top of the hops are Elusive Brewing’s American Red, Thornbridge Jaipur and Bristol Beer Factory’s smooth, creamy, chocolate Milk Stout. You’ll also find around two dozen bottled and canned craft brews, as well as the chain’s own-brew beers.
