Unlike some chain restaurants, I have always found Strada to be one I can rely on. Covent Garden is where I last visited and we were able to sit outside and offered the shade to be pulled down, without asking for that to be done. The service was quick and efficient, food was very good with the special offer of 2 courses for lunch value for money. It is not high end dining, but definitely good quality all around.

I booked in for a pre-theatre meal for two at 6pm for curtain up (200m away) at 7.30pm. We were seated by 6.05pm, and had drinks by 6.15pm. We managed to attract a waiter's attention to order our food by 6.20pm. Then we waited. At 6.40pm we asked where our food was – 'on it's way'. At 6.45pm I challenged the floor supervisor – Oh dear – immediately… 6.55pm our starters arrived – my companion's starter lacked the promised sauce and the chicken was full of bone fragments. With no sign of the main courses arriving, at 7.10pm we got up and made our way out, stopping to tell the manager what a rubbish deal we had had, and were going to have to wait until after 11pm before we could get a meal. He could only apologise: No voucher was offered, not even bread or complimentary olives were provided to keep us going. In addition, the toilets were dirty, our waiter complained what an awful evening he was having, and another waiter stopped to fix her hair behind my shoulder while I was sitting at the table. Strada have apparently given up training their staff – AVOID.
