SquareMeal Review of
Smoking Goat Shoreditch
Smoking Goat was a hit when it opened back in Soho in 2014, and it’s now got a much larger Shoreditch sibling. The 100-cover space boasts an open kitchen and a bar, while diners can either sit at the counter, or on large canteen-style tables. Sticking to its successful formula, the Shoreditch site focuses on affordable Thai barbecue and seafood. On the seafood side, the short menu features ingredients such as spider crab, wild mussels and mylor prawns, while the barbecue offering is cooked in huge charcoal and wood-burning pots. Guests can choose from the likes of pigs head with steamed noodles, and northern-style duck laap. To drink, there’s a daily-changing list of wines by-the-glass and a selection of pale ales. Just like its Soho site, Smoking Goat Shoreditch only takes bookings for large groups, but with a much bigger space on offer, there are plenty more tables up for grabs.
