SquareMeal Review of
Laced into authentic Bavarian frocks, friendly Fulham fräuleins serve over 60 of Germany’s favourite frothy tops in steins at this decent rendition of a 1970s Munich Bierkeller. An oompah band gees up proceedings on weekend nights, much appreciated by a boisterous bunch of regulars sitting at communal tables. Of our tasting wheel of eight samples, we’re keenest on Köstritzer Black ale and König Ludwig wheat beer. Alternatively, order Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) or Riesling wine, if blowsy and semi-sweet is your bag. Food is generously proportioned, traditional (veering on the stolid) and reasonably priced. House wursts (sausages) are the best of a hit and miss medley of meaty challenges that also includes vast roasted pork knuckles. Unfortunately, our jägerschnitzel featured overdone pork escalope and rather bland mushroom cream sauce. Expect a scrum here when rugby and footie fans pile in to cheer their team, live on the big screen.
