SquareMeal Review of
With its garish, 50s-style murals and scruffy Chesterfields, Kaff looks as if it was thrown together in five minutes – a bit like some of its just-out-of-bed clientele. If the cast of Friends were
Londoners – and a whole lot cooler – they might convene here for coffee, cake and cocktails: at £3 ‘all day every day’ for Brixton mule and Louisiana jam, prices are friendly indeed. For something
really cute, check out the £18 six-pack of mini flavoured milks turbocharged with a slug of Eristoff vodka and served in old-fashioned bottle-carriers (remember Bennie Hill’s saucy milkman?).
Likewise, a knickerbocker glory alco-sundae and ‘how do your like your eggs’ (a Jack Daniels and advocaat hit served in retro egg cup with sponge-biscuit soldiers to dunk) are pure kidult kitsch.
By contrast, strong lagers, wines, Caribbean sweet and savoury dishes, eclectic DJ sessions and occasional burlesque strike a more grown-up note.
