Firstly, not sure why the ‘crammed in tables’ features first here!? It’s an old, beautiful building that is well thought-out, and they seem to have maximised the space provided by such a building. Wooden beams, low ceilings and brick could make it feel compact, but a gorgeous sunshine yellow paint on the walls certainly brightens and makes a clever use of space!
Food is on par with some of the best restaurants we’ve visited. Always an interesting menu, varied and seasonal. Cooking is also top notch and sensitive to the ingredients. We had the smoked haddock starter and the lamb rump for Main. Both with perfect accompaniments, both executed to perfection! Lamb was tender and perfectly pink!
A rich chocolate Delice to finish and a very interesting cheese board finished a perfect meal.
Wine list is very good, with great notes to help newbies like us through!
Overall? Excellent, service was a little ‘amateur’ in some places but don’t let that put you off!
Book in advance, you’ll need to!!
