SquareMeal Review of
Fifth Floor Café at Harvey Nichols
Retail therapy and eating go together like strawberries and cream, so this all-day café at the top of Harvey Nicks (next to the inspirational food hall) is a perfect destination for the ladies and gents who shop, lunch and more besides. Small plates of crab blinis, bocconcini croquettes or smoked salmon and fennel bavarois give way to tuna carpaccio with dill, radish, chilli and lemon, or grilled steak salad with julienne of carrots, chilli and honey. Famished types can opt for monkfish wrapped in Parma ham with potato mille-feuille, as well as some smart steaks and fish from the grill. The bright, open-plan space feels slightly anonymous, but there are always plenty of people-watching opportunities to distract attention. On summery days, the terrace high above Knightsbridge that overlooks the Mandarin Oriental is a truly lovely and surprisingly private place to sit.
