Nusr-Et Steakhouse, in Knightsbridge, is the world-famous restaurant from Turkish chef Nusret Gökçe, otherwise known as ‘Salt Bae’, who rose to viral fame when videos of his unique meat seasoning technique (essentially a theatrical sprinkling of salt) went wildly viral, leading to countless memes and recreations. So far, the Nusr-Et restaurants around the world have courted the Instagram crowd, as well as a few famous faces such as David Beckham and DJ Khaled. Prices are also high, although that is to be expected in the well-heeled surrounds of Knightsbridge. Nevertheless, if you’re looking to grab a snap with Salt Bae, or recreate his video, this may be your best bet.
Now with 16 sites across the globe, from Dubai to Miami, the debut London branch finds its home at the luxury Park Tower Hotel in Knightsbridge. A giant open kitchen sits at the heart of the room, offering a touch of theatre for guests, whilst interiors showcase dramatic light fixtures, gold detailing and marble-effect tables. At Nusr-Et Steakhouse, guests can expect to dine on a menu which includes signature dishes such as sushi topped with New York Strip and avocado cream, premium Wagyu tenderloin slices, and the Saltbae Tomahawk, a show-stopping cut that’s expertly grilled and served on the bone.
Whilst the restaurant is known for its extravagance, and high-end pricing, you’ll now also find a couple of more affordable lunch set menus. Choose from the likes of rainbow cauliflower salad or salmon rillettes crunch to start, followed by Wagyu fillet or striploin steaks, or grilled salmon with sauteed mushrooms, or the classic Nusr-Et burger with caramelised onion and cheddar cheese.
Elsewhere on the menu, you’ll find tartare selections and some light salads, as well as beef carpaccio and prawn cocktails, with an extensive selection of prime cuts that are served straight from the grill. Wine lovers will be more than satisfied with the collection of reds, whites, and Champagnes, with options by the glass, bottle, or even the odd Magnum. There’s also a cocktail menu, packed full of signature offerings, to help wash all of that steak down.
