SquareMeal Review of Dukes Bar at Dukes Hotel

Some say that the Duke's Bar is to the Martini what James Bond is to secret agents: the daddy! It was here that one-time regular, Ian Fleming, took inspiration for his novel Casino Royale, in which 007 first orders what we nowadays call a Vesper (named after the novel's Ms Vesper Lynd). Vintage Gordon's, Beefeater 24, Tanqueray 10: whatever your preferred base for a Martini (mixed to order at your table, naturally), we advise proceeding with caution: the Duke’s hits are deadly. And with up to 200 served daily in this low-key lounge bar, we're talking a heavy casualty toll. Try a Truffle Martini or Fleming 89 – a signature mix of tonka bean-infused vodka, rose, amber vermouth and chocolate bitters inspired by Bond's favoured cologne, Floris No 89. Other cocktails are available, but you'd be mad not to make yours a Martini.

This bar serves without a doubt the strongest & tastiest Dirty Martini in London. If however, you happen to be a lightweight, ask Alessandro to make you a passionfruit martini. Eat and compliment him on his juicy, enourmous olives from Puglia. They are to die for.
