"Completely incredible food and service"; "reminds me of Mumbai"; "one of my favourite pop-in places" – readers simply can't get enough of Dishoom and its "wonder colonial decor". Whether it's a breakfast of bacon naans and chilli jam (with bottomless chai tea during the week) or dinner with "creative" Asian-themed cocktails such as the Bollybellini, this branch of the four-strong group delivers in spades. We're hooked on the keema pau (minced spiced lamb in a buttered bun) and the signature black dhal, but other items are well worth a punt – including the mahi (fish) tikka, the fried batura bread with chickpeas or the famous chicken berry Britannia (a biryani riff with cranberries), with kulfi on a stick to finish. The only problem is getting a table in the first place: bookings are only taken for groups of six or more, otherwise you need to queue. Even so, this is a "must-visit".

An impressively designed and decorated place from the entrance to this branch to when you walk into and dine at this location. There are beautiful flowers along the entry path with picnic benches for enjoying cocktails and food al fresco when we have sunny weather. They now have a fab summer verandah.
Amazing cocktails created by the knowledgeable bartenders at the well-designed The Permit Bar; a relaxing environment for drinks/ cocktails and catching up with friends in an eye-catching bar. They create a wider variety of drinks and cocktails than the Covent Garden branch, perfectly made to original cocktail recipes but adding their own unique twist, like nimbu pani and the Bombay Martini; plus they will create variations of cocktails on the menu to customers requests without hesitation, like a whisky chai, whereas the Covent Garden branch bartenders were unwilling to go off the bar menu.
Fabulous food created by the kitchen team, lead by the pleasant and friendly Head Chef Yash, especially the street food like samosas, fresh and crispy bhel puri and vada pau (the Indian version of a chip butty).
Save space for their mango or malai kulfi (which has a lovely addition of caramel) and their melt-in-the-mouth nankhatais.
Pleasant and efficient service. Overall, great place for Indian and Asian food, and would recommend in a heartbeat!
Dishoom is one of my favourite restaurants in London. The queue is normally rediculously long, but it's definitely worth the wait. We only had to wait around 30mins whilst having a drink at their bar.
The hosts were extremely friendly, and the service was great, and they knew exactly what each dish was and were able to recommend some great dishes to share. There's nothing on the menu I didn't like. The lamb and chicken are both very tender, and the Black Dahl is so so creamy and is a great sauce dish on the side. The Biryani dishes are more than enough to share between two people, along with 2-3 other dishes. The naan bread is fresh and tastes even better with garlic or cheese.
The chai tea is the only chai that I've managed to find in London so far that actually tastes like the chai tea in India.
the ambiance is fantastic with the right mood lighting, and this restaurant is always buzzing. 10 out of 10.

It was an afternoon decision so full of hope, I picked up the phone to check on their table availability. They couldn't take our reservation as we were less than 6 guests but invited us to turn up and wait for a table.
At 8pm, on a sunny day, the bar and the terrace were heaving with well dressed patrons. The crowd was really friendly and we soon found ourselves chitchatting with our neighbours. The cocktails were tasty and I thought, fairly priced for this kind of venue. The feel of the building is colonial with a touch of disarray that reminds me partly of India partly of Shoreditch industrial style. We were told we could get a table in 45 minutes. We waited an hour and a half.
To be fair, they offered us free drinks to apologize and really looked after us once we were seated.
The menu presents no surprise and we decided to at least taste the house “speciality” which is a slow cooked leg of lamb, pulled meat style. It was dry and fairly non interesting, a bit of a disappointment as it was the most expensive thing on the menu (which is still fairly cheap) and was recommended by the waiter. My mango lassi tasted more like a mango smoothie and arrived at the end of the meal, not much use to take off the heat.
The bill was £90 for two with plenty left overs and many drinks, so yes, the food is fairly cheap and the room is beautiful. I won't come back for dinner though, I'll come back for cocktails.
