Squaremeal Review of Bleeding Heart Restaurant ?

Straight out of central casting, the bistro part of the Bleeding Heart operation is a “romantic” joint. The colours are the just the right tone, vintage posters add to the “authentic feel”, and the menu doesn’t miss a trick. Kick off with a warm crab florentine tart or escargots doused in “addictive” garlic and parsley butter, before an equally classic main course such as confit duck leg with braised savoy cabbage and rosemary potatoes, or braised rabbit with petit pois à la française and mustard jus. A grill turns out dry-aged rib-eye steaks and spatchcock poussin, while desserts promise traditional comforts. Such excellent fodder tastes even better when consumed outdoors on the terrace in the sunshine (weather subject to availability). When it comes to wine, the Bistro calls on the cellar of its big brother across the way for a stonking list.

Private Dining at Bleeding Heart Restaurant

For almost 30 years the privately-owned Bleeding Heart Restaurants in historic, cobble-stoned Bleeding Heart Yard have been the city’s first choice for entertaining. From business breakfast meetings, city dinners, weddings and wine tastings. For smaller private bookings hire one of the intimate private dining rooms. For larger events exclusive hire of the restaurants can be arranged.

For a unique setting and something of a celebration, opt for The Crypt in Ely Place adjoining Bleeding Heart Yard. With a history dating back to the 6th century, The Crypt famously hosted the grand wedding feast for Henry VIII and his first wife, Catherine of Aragon.

Extremely popular for intimate wedding receptions, providing a stunning backdrop for photographs with its stone walls, beamed ceilings and stained glass windows.

The Crypt also offers a great talking point at more business-orientated events and the space can be easily adapted to accommodate anything from corporate dinners to cocktail receptions and Christmas parties.
