About

Bengal Tiger is an Indian restaurant and bar located in east London and just a few minutes' walk from Old Street station. It serves northern Indian cuisine in a sleek and spot lit setting, while a passionate kitchen team cook up an array of authentic dishes, with a particular focus on its unique chef’s specials. In fact, its continued focus on creating innovative, quality dishes led it to win an ARTA Award in 2022 for the best regional Asian restaurant in east London.

The restaurant is split across two floors, with the main dining room and bar located upstairs, while a sleek second dining space sits below ground level. The main restaurant is decorated with tiger-themed art throughout, including a sculpture of a tiger fixed to the counter bar. While electric purple walls bring a sense of vibrance and fun. Downstairs is a more formal affair and boasts a neutral but smart aesthetic. Think shiny wooden floors, beige walls and white tablecloths.

Bengal Tiger differentiates itself from the curry houses that dot the area by its selection of chef's specials. Along with all the classics, guests can look forward to the likes of Sikandar Raan, which sees lamb shank cooked low and slow with herbs and spices, or Duck Mango Delight, which sees duck cooked in a masala sauce with mango. Chicken Jaipuri cooked in a medium tamarind sauce, and a tandoori-cooked Duck Akberi Masala are equally memorable.

Bengal offers menus for every occasion, including a vegetarian offering, an express lunch option, and multiple set menus for those looking to take the stress out of ordering. Equally worth a mention is its special tandoori menu featuring a selection of meat, fish and seafood cooked in the tandoori oven. All of these dishes are served with a green salad and a cooling mint and yoghurt dip.

This restaurant offers fantastic Indian cuisine, which is plentiful. I have never had a bad meal here. The restaurant always seems to be pretty busy.
