SquareMeal Review of Al Santo

There’s nowhere quite like Al Santo in London. A family run Italian and Greek restaurant on Fulham’s Vanston Place, Al Santo will make you feel like you’ve wandered into someone’s living room. Fairy lights hang from the ceiling, while the walls are lined with accordions and assorted instruments (as well as an upside down bicycle hanging from the ceiling). The eclectic menus (which are made from 1960s album sleeves) feature a mix of Italian and Greek dishes, with the main focus on homemade pasta dishes. There is also an extensive selection of charcuterie served on wooden platters. The wine list is long and varied, while desserts include Italian staples such as tiramisu.

I've been before, and I plan to go back many, many times. With fab food and service, all situated in a cosy pocket near Fulham Broadway, this is an excellent venue for wholesome, affordable food. The passion from the Chef is evident in the dishes he creates, it's a place to savour and linger…enjoy many glassses of vino and embrace the Italian-Greek inspired food, atmosphere and lovely staff.

This place has changed dramatically in the last 6 weeks, since a proper and creative Italian chef took over the kitchen. He produces outstanding homemade dishes at very at a very affordable price. His risottos, his slow cooked meat dishes and his deserts are excellent. The food is outstanding and the place is cosy; the service has improved substantially but needs a bit more work. Massimo (the chef) is friendly and very passionate about his cooking; ask him and he will happily tailor make the dishes. This is now a great place. Rafael
