Looking to host a private dinner in Kensington? The Abingdon is a neighbourhood restaurant and wine bar that’s been a favourite amongst locals since it opened back in 1998.
When it comes to private dining, The Abingdon offers a variety of versatile spaces. In the restaurant you’ll find a semi-private space for up to 22 guests, perfect for those who want an intimate celebration whilst still feeling part of the action. Elsewhere, the Sofa Area offers a relaxing bar spot where you and up to 12 guests can sink into plush seating and enjoy a couple of canapes, bar snacks and cocktails.
For something slightly larger, be sure to take over the bar, complete with a cosy fireplace, and sprawling windows that ensure the space is flooded with natural light. Here, you’ll find space for up to 60 guests, or you can take over the entire venue for up to 70, if you’re planning a large-scale celebration.
When it comes to the food, you can choose from canapes or a three-course menu, showcasing the site's classic British cuisine with a refined twist. Expect bite-sized nibbles such as crab on toast with pickled cucumber, cheeseburger sliders, or kale pakoras with coconut yoghurt. For the set menu, dishes may include cured trout with pickled cucumbers or gazpacho to start, followed by spinach tortelloni or flat iron steak with a Bearnaise sauce. Finish up with buttermilk panna cotta or sticky toffee pudding with clotted cream for the full experience.
No private dinner is complete without wine, and The Abingdon are experts. Here, you’ll find over 200 bottles from all around the world, with plenty of vintages available by the bottle or glass, thanks to the Coravin system which they use. There’s also a variety of creative cocktails on offer, ensuring that your guests are sure to be kept in good spirits throughout the evening.
