Looking for private dining in Consett? Soami’s Trio offers a sociable setting for group bookings, from birthday celebrations to work gatherings and special occasions. While there isn’t a dedicated private dining room, larger tables can be arranged within the main restaurant, or the whole space can be hired exclusively.
Inside, the restaurant has plenty of personality, with dark wooden tables and chairs, brown leather booth seating and a large green living wall creating a strong focal point. Floral installations and Indian-inspired artwork add colour and texture, giving the space a playful feel. Larger groups can opt for exclusive hire of the restaurant for up to 90 guests, whilst smaller parties can make the most of a semi-private space for up to 20.
Led by chef Parvin Kumar, the kitchen centres around a fusion of Indian, Mexican and Thai influences. This trio-style approach runs throughout the menus, offering a mix of familiar dishes and more creative combinations designed to suit a range of tastes.
At lunchtime, guests can choose from lighter dishes or set menus, with options such as chicken momos, shrimp cones with tamarind and garlic and a chicken tikka masala pie. The main menu expands across all three cuisines, with starters including bhajis, samosas and chicken tikka alongside Thai-inspired small plates like duck spring rolls and Mexican options such as cheesy nachos. Mains include curries, biryanis and tandoori dishes, as well as Thai green curry, tacos and fajitas, giving groups plenty of variety to choose from.
A tasting menu and vegetarian alternative are available for those looking for a more structured experience, while desserts offer a mix of classic and more inventive options. A dedicated children’s menu also makes it a practical choice for family groups. Drinks include wines, beers, lagers, ciders and spirits, alongside cocktails such as Espresso Martinis and Pina Coladas. Drinks packages can be arranged for larger bookings.
