Shambles restaurant & winebar is an independent Italian restaurant and wine bar set right in the heart of Teddington, offering a variety of spaces for private hire. Run by siblings Margherita and Massimo, Shambles has the friendly, lively atmosphere of a great local restaurant, but also offers a menu full of classy Italian cooking - plus more than 40 wines by the glass - with chef Massimo bringing a wealth of experience in Michelin-starred restaurants to the kitchen.
Inside, the restaurant is smart, modern and colourful, marrying stout stools and a plush aquamarine banquette with brightly upholstered cushions and exposed brick feature walls. This dining room is available to hire for small to medium-sized occasions - it can host up to 45 guests for a celebration dinner, or up to 65 guests for standing occasions likes drinks parties and networking events.
The jewel in the crown is the private outdoor terrace - a beautiful, foliage-laden garden terrace complete with wisteria-covered pergola. Highly sought-after in the summer, the outdoor terrace can be hired for groups of up to 26 seated, or 50 standing guests. It’s an ideal spot for casual summer drinks parties.
Alternatively, exclusive private hire of the whole restaurant is available for large gatherings - Shambles boasts a total capacity of 140, including the main dining room and the area on the terrace covered by a retractable roof.
For private parties, chef Massimo will curate a special menu to suit the occasion, whether that is seasonal canapes, sandwiches, or a feast of salads, antipasti, pasta, wood-fired steaks and classic desserts. Choose from dishes such as porchetta and salsa verde sandwiches, tagliatelle with oxtail ragu, pan-roasted lamb saddle with celeriac, artichoke and potato, and fillet steak Rossini with truffle crostini, spinach and foie gras.
