Housed in a former tea and bacon warehouse in Shoreditch, there are few places trendier for private dining than Lyle’s. Michelin-starred and consistently rated in the World’s Top 50 (not to mention our top 100), this restaurant has certainly made a name for itself. The space was originally built in the 40s, and the styling is minimal, to say the least. Simple wooden furnishings, white walls and large windows hark back to Lowe’s St John’s origins, but with a softer touch applied.
The largest table Lyle’s will accommodate is 12, so larger groups should contact the restaurant's events team to discuss exclusive hire (the full venue can accommodate up to 48 seated guests for a meal). The menu at Lyle’s is primarily focused on showcasing the best and freshest British produce available that day. As such, you and your guests can expect to taste some lesser-known ingredients, including crab apple, ewe’s cheese, oroblanco, monkfish liver, sea beet and pullet eggs.
Lyle’s uses more familiar flavours too, as the quality of produce still provides novelty. You might see grilled mussels with cider butter, scallop with smoked roe or beef with spring greens and anchovy on the menu too. Dessert at Lyle’s is a truly decadent affair, with previous entries including blood orange and panela sugar millefeuille, lemon sherbet with preserved lemon meringue and caramel ice cream with espresso.
Aperitifs at Lyle's feature similar ingredients to the food, but instead combined with spirits, bitters, cordials and sodas. These include a nettle gimlet and blood orange boulevardier. Beers here are firmly British, with brews from Bristol, London and Herefordshire, while the wine list ventures into Europe. Fortified wines, spirits, liqueurs, coffees and teas are also available.
To start planning your private dinner at Lyle’s, simply fill in the form on the right and the team will be in touch. They have a history of delighting diners and will be happy to answer any questions.
