Looking for a private dining room in the Cotswolds? Lardon at Elkstone Studios combines a cosy dedicated space with European-inspired sharing dishes and wood-fired cooking. The private dining room accommodates up to 24 guests around one long banqueting table, while smaller groups of five or more can gather around tables in the main restaurant for a more informal, semi-private experience.
The private room has a warm, intimate feel that works particularly well for birthdays, anniversaries and celebratory dinners. Deep terracotta walls create a cocooning backdrop, complemented by dark wooden seating, marble-topped tables and small green lamps casting a soft glow across the table.
Lardon’s sharing-style approach is particularly well suited to groups. Start with olives and almonds before moving onto truffle arancini, pintxos de txaka with prawn and crab, or ricotta with chilli and fennel pollen. From the flames, options include wood-fired cod and 34-day-aged Longhorn rump cap with Cafe de Paris sauce, while substantial T-bone steaks are designed for sharing. Pizzettas, salads and sides such as Lardon frites and smoked potatoes with garlic and rosemary provide plenty of options for the table. For something sweet, there’s Basque cheesecake with sour cherry, a Negroni float or affogato. A curated selection of wines, beers, spirits and soft drinks completes the offering.
Private gatherings aren’t restricted to lunch and dinner either. Breakfast offers another option for morning events and group brunches, with a continental-style buffet featuring jamon Iberico with fig and rocket, Manchego, chorizo, whipped ricotta with cherry tomato and basil, granola and chia seed bowls with berries. Hot dishes draw inspiration from the Basque Country, Tuscany and Provence, while cinnamon buns, pecan and maple Danish and other bakes can be accompanied by smoothies, juices, teas and coffees. There is also a dedicated children's menu, which makes it suitable for family meals.
