Lardon at Elkstone Studios offers something a little different for Christmas parties in the Cotswolds, swapping traditional turkey and trimmings for European-inspired sharing dishes cooked over fire. Groups can book from 12 guests, while the private dining room accommodates up to 24. Larger celebrations can take over the restaurant exclusively, with capacity for up to 60 people.
There’s flexibility in how you celebrate too. Plan an intimate sit-down dinner around one table, or opt for a more sociable party with drinks and sharing plates. Morning gatherings can take the form of a festive brunch, with a continental-style breakfast buffet, pastries and hot dishes accompanied by juices, smoothies, teas, coffees or cocktails.
For festive events at lunch and dinner, the Lardon menu is designed to be passed around and shared. Small bites such as olives and almonds lead into bocados including truffle arancini, focaccia and pintxos. From the flames, expect dishes such as herb chicken crown and pork belly, alongside substantial T-bone and sirloin steaks for the table. Lardon's pizzettas, salads and sides complete the spread, while Basque cheesecake with sour cherry, chocolate mousse with pistachio and salted caramel, or blood orange sorbet offer a sweet finish. Cheese boards are an option, either as dessert or to share amongst other smaller dishes.
The interiors at Lardon feel particularly inviting in winter. Deep terracotta walls and a vaulted ceiling create a warm, cocooning atmosphere, with globe lighting and small green table lamps adding a soft evening glow.
Wine, beer and cocktails are all available for festive drinks, while children are welcome too. The dedicated Little Lardons menu includes flatbread with tomato and mozzarella and wood-fired chicken with frites and aioli, followed by ice cream or pudding, making family Christmas gatherings just as easy to arrange.
