Best Italian private dining rooms in London

Sale e Pepe has a reputation as a glitzy, glamorous paradise of elevated trattoria cooking, attracting its fair share of celebs and wealthy Harrods shoppers. Nothing is too much for the outstanding staff here, and private groups have a choice of two private dining rooms (at 12 and 25 capacity each) or exclusive hire of the whole venue for 100 if you're really splashing out.

One of London's relatively few Michelin-starred Italian restaurants, it can be famously hard to get a booking at Luca, especially on the stunning Mediterranean terrace. You can hire it for yourself though, as it can host up to 20 people for a very special dinner under the stars. Check out the intimate Garden Room and Pasta Room too - two distinct spaces that will make your event extra special. 

Stunning, Grade II listed Ladbroke Hall is right up there with the most striking restaurant buildings in the city, and inside you'll find Pollini - an equally beautiful Italian restaurant with some incredible private spaces available to hire. Guests can hire out the original 1944 Prouvé House in the garden, the cosy Library or larger gallery, with Emanuele Pollini catering with his more modern, international take on Italian cooking.

This City of London institution is a relaxed haven of typical Italian hospitality and luxury. First opened in the 80s, Bolton's has survived and thrived against the test of time, serving home-style dishes with a touch of elegance. There's a private dining room for 18 guests, as well as a lovely mezzanine balcony for 26, and other larger areas. Or, hire the whole restaurant floor for banquets of up to 100 guests. 

Sotto Cucina's Orangery is a beautiful and very in-demand private space, so we recommend planning well in advance if you want to dine on rustic Italian dishes surrounded by the verdant living wall of plants. The restaurant also has another 20-seat indoor space called The Nook, where you can enjoy saffron arancini, sardine rolls with Parmesan and lots more.

Glamorous crowd-pleasing Soho spot Bocconcino is a sister site to the equally excellent Bocconcino Mayfair, serving excellent, very classic Italian dishes. Interiors are visually striking, with glowing Italian marble bar, ornate overhead lighting and sculpted metal leaves lining the walls. It's perfect for a birthday or celebration, and puts you in striking distance of Soho's nightlife.

This relaxed, welcoming restaurant in Mayfair is part of Samyukta Nair's LSL Capital group (which also includes the likes of Jamavar, MiMi Mei Fair and KOYN). The menu is all about the homely comforts of Italian cooking, but the cooking and the surroundings all have an air of luxury about them. The wine list is also magnificent, delving deep into some of Italy's great wine regions.

Little Italy is a charming little Italian trattoria in the heart of London. The restaurant has a 50-seater private dining room, featuring a wine cabinet and exposed brick walls. The space is warm, cosy and stylish - perfect for intimate family gatherings - and if you like an al fresco dinner, you can extend the party to the terrace.

The Ember Yard menu oscillates between Spanish and Italian gastronomic traditions, marrying the two with a shared love of cooking over fire. We love The Jostper Room, which seats 24 around a rustic central table, but there are larger spaces here as well, like the Ember Bar which accommodates 42 on comfortable bar stools, or 50 standing for drinks and canapes.

This buzzy, colourful Sicilian restaurant on Charlotte Street is famous for rustic, hearty cooking - expect superb focaccia, seasonal arancini, homemade cannoli and generous pasta portions. There's a beautiful 14-seat private dining room on the top floor of the townhouse, but you can also hire the Ground Floor Atrium for groups of up to 22.

A Covent Garden private dining room with plenty of soul, Osteria by Bocconcino works for dinners of all kinds. Seating up to 26, just choose between three sharing set menus at varied price points, and enjoy slow-cooked short rib, creamy burrata, and premium 24-month Parma ham. Corporate or social, quality wine and delicious pasta is sure to make a splash. 

ALBA is all about high-gloss Amalfi vibes, just moments from Harrods. With flexible event spaces and menus built around luxe seafood, truffle-laced pasta and bold Italian wines, it’s a go-to for luxury private dining that feels celebratory. Come for the lobster linguine, stay for the atmosphere.

If you’re after proper Roman cooking for a crowd, Agrodolce delivers. The stylish private dining room seats up to 60 and is ideal for warm, buzzy celebrations, fuelled by handmade pasta, classic Roman sauces and crowd-pleasing mains. It’s authentic and refreshingly unfussy, with service that knows how to host.

The BoTree goes big on flexibility, serving private dining in all shapes and sizes. From statement celebrations at LAVO to intimate VIP dinners in its private suites, the focus is contemporary Italian cooking, wrapped up in plush interiors and slick service - a solid all-rounder for hosting in style.

Housed inside The Langham, Sale e Pepe Mare delivers glam, grown-up dining with serious coastal credentials. The sleek private dining room hosts up to 18 guests and is perfect for polished celebrations or power lunches, backed by Amalfi-inspired dishes, top-tier Italian wines and a Negroni trolley for added tableside theatre.

Inspired by Italian heritage cooking, Mortimer House Kitchen rustles up hearty, comforting plates of seasonal Italian food. The private dining rooms are beautiful too - we love the Conservatory with its rustic stone flooring and glass ceiling, and the Kitchen Table, which hosts just nine guests alongside a central table, in a farmhouse-style kitchen.

The stylish restaurant inside hotel Xenia hosts all sorts of events, from Prosecco brunches to celebratory dinners. Many of these head to the Multifunction Room, which seats 60 for private dinners, but there's also the more intimate Bohemia room for 10 lucky guests. 

Theo Randall is one of the leading lights of London's Italian dining scene, and his cooking at the InterContinental strikes a nice balance of rustic, seasonal cooking with a touch of class. Two private dining rooms seat 20 and 40 respectively, or they can be combined for groups of up to 58 guests to feast on Randall's incredible cooking.

This neighbourhood restaurant and wine bar in Bermondsey has built a rep as one of London's best Italian restaurants, combining friendly, informal, relaxed atmosphere with some top-tier home-style cooking. You can hire areas of the main restaurant semi-privately for your own lunch or dinner, or for something special, book out the whole venue for gatherings of up to 50 guests.

This smart, sophisticated Italian restaurant has long been a fixture of Marylebone (it was previously called Bernardi's) and it remains as excellent as ever, serving up seasonal pasta, moreish antipasti, pizzas and an excellent cocktail list. Proximity to Marylebone Town Hall makes it ideal for wedding dinners, but the wonderful menus are suitable for all occasions, and the bright, spacious private dining room can host up to 50 guests. 

This stunning, historic Holland Park venue offers some of the most refined Italian dining in London. Its private alcove, The Loggia, seats 20 in cosy wicker chairs, amid terracotta walls and arabesque chandeliers. There's also a secluded al fresco terrace available to hire, which looks out over Holland Park itself. 

Set inside the recently renovated OWO in Whitehall, Paper Moon's grand, opulent style is perfect for dinners where you want to impress. A variety of private spaces cater for between 18 and 40 guests, with customisable set menus covering every aspect of luxury Italian dining. 

The signature all day restaurant at art'otel Battersea Power Station is TOZI Pizzeria & Cicchetti Bar, which serves very stylish and luxurious pizzas (check out the lobster and cacio e pepe pizzas for size) as well as a fantastic aperitivo selection, and easy-sharing cicchetti plates too. The private dining room seats 12, and is beautifully appointed, with artwork by Jaime Hayon. 

Arguably one of London's most quirky, design-led hotels, private events at Broadwick Soho are guaranteed to live long in the memory. Its eighth-floor private room seats up to 28 and brings together bold design, skyline views and refined Italian menus from Dear Jackie.
