Tickets for the final California Wine & Food evening of 2013 now on sale


Following sell-out events at Tate Modern and Automat earlier this year, we are delighted to announce the third and final California Wine & Food Tasting of 2013, which will take place in Christopher’s lavishly refurbished Martini Bar, in Covent Garden, on Tuesday 24 September.

Guests are in for a great evening of food-friendly Californian wines served alongside a fabulously tasty modern-American tapas selection prepared by the Christopher’s kitchen. While the event will be fun and informal, experts will be on hand to guide anyone who wants to know more about the wines and their food pairings.

Wines to be sampled at this event offer something for every taste, from cool-climate Chardonnay or punchy Sauvignon Blanc to Burgundian-style Pinot Noir (Au Bon Climat), or classic Cabernet Sauvignon from the Napa Valley – plus brooding, fruit-forward Zinfandel, California’s signature grape. Award-winning Californian fizz (Roederer Estate Quartet) will add yet more sparkle to proceedings.

To complement this exciting range of wines, staff will be enticing guests with a huge selection of tapas, designed to give them tasters of some of the restaurant’s most acclaimed signature dishes. Picture-perfect seafood nibbles will include seared scallop with pea-and-mint purée, and ceviche of sea bass with coriander-and-lime dressing, while meaty morsels will range from pulled-pork mini rolls with caramelised onions to seared prime-beef sirloin slathered in chimichurri sauce. In addition to this, many more dishes will make the rounds – look out for zucchini hotcakes topped with guacamole and salsa, or Californian-style surf ‘n’ turf combinations.

Christopher’s was stylishly redesigned earlier this year as part of a full refurbishment. The Martini Bar is one of Covent Garden’s most moody and romantic destinations, boasting groovy 1950s’ styling and an imposing bronze cocktail bar.
