With summer upon us, thoughts turn to liquid refreshment and there’s none finer than Ruinart Blanc de Blancs Champagne. Made exclusively from white Chardonnay grapes (rather than from a blend of
different varieties like traditional Champagnes) Blanc de Blancs is a particularly light and refreshing style of Champagne – perfect for enjoying outside on a sunny day.
It’s equally good as an aperitif or with food, as Jeremy Bloor, executive chef at the Oxo Tower Restaurant explains: ‘Matching Champagne with food is one of the greatest and easiest marriages
purely because you cannot go wrong. It is extremely versatile and marries well with any creamy, fatty, acidic foods, also the cleanness of fresh shellfish and lettuce. For me an example of a great
dish to complement this Champagne would be langoustine Caesar salad with gazpacho blanco.’
